I stick to the mainstream universe. I don't even bother with the Ultimate Universe. Based on Bug-Off's depiction of them killing off the main Marvel casts, makes me loathe it even more. But I might give this a chance. Does he even have a Spidey Sense?? Like Peter?
I don't read DC mainly for the fact, that they have too many "Immortal" characters. How many deaths of Superman do we need? Don't even get me started on him. Doctor Manhattan? I really don't know if he died or not I'm gonna assume yes since it was like the 1950's? I think? But he could still be alive due to that Radioactive ailment sheen he's got goin on. Now Marvel, they use REAL cities, use concepts one can relate to, (Not that Detective Comic's doesnt.) and they give a more realistic sense. Of course that's from my perspective.
well said. Doc Manhattan only recently became part of the DC universe...with buying of vertigo and what not. I think the only people who still confuse me are Image...half their stuff is same universe...and half isn't. Comics are a now a major part of my career and life...so it makes it difficult to keep track.
And they had a good thing going for a long while with the Ultimate series. Seriously, I loved it.
First they had Spider-Man. Threw a fresh new spin the series. Updated it. Revamped it. It was smart, believable. Then they did X-Men. Also great. They felt like a real team. Then the did... I think it was Fantastic Four next. Which impressed me because that was my least favorite Marvel team before. Then the Ultimates. Very cool.
... Then they just started killing everyone off. And I mean EVERYONE! And hey, I get that people are mortal and it's realistic to see some of them die off... But half the freaking cast of main characters? Fuck that.
But to me, even as the rest of the Ultimate Marvel series fell apart one by one, Spider-Man was still an entertaining series. The one title I still read. And so what do they do? They kill him off too!
I mean, damn it, I'm done! It's over! It was fun while it lasted, but I'm not picking up another issue.
